William McEnery

William McEnery was born January 2, 1937 in Ennis, County Clare. He came to the states in 1959 and made the Bronx his home. He married the lovely Nora McEnery (née Casey) in 1969. They had two children, Thomas Patrick and Kathy Ann, whom he adored and raised to be exemplary people and parents themselves. He was a hard-working, honest family man and provider who took care of others and made a home for his family. When he could find it, he would take time to go fishing off of the rocks or the bridge at City Island.

He spent most of his career working as an elevator operator in the city and a super in the Bronx, and he retired in 2004. After that he passed his days loving his family, watching the world go past his window, and talking about the weather. He was always quick with a smile or joke, and to give his wife a “hug and a squeeze.” 

He passed away on May 31, 2019.  He was 82. He is reunited with his brother Joe in heaven. He leaves behind his loving daughter in law Jill, and his five beloved grandchildren: Samantha, Keely, Emmet, Shane, and Caleb. He was one of the warmest people and best storytellers ever. All who knew him adored him and he will be greatly missed.
