William E. Hamberger Jr., 74 of Pearl River, NY passed away suddenly on May 24, 2024 at home in his happy place of Naples, FL. Family called him William, friends called him Billy and his girls called him their world.
William was born in Mount Vernon, NY on December 13, 1949 to Elizabeth (Betty) and William E. Hamberger Sr. He grew up in the Bronx and served in the US Army in South Korea in the late 60s. After being discharged, he attended the Wilfred Academy of Hair in White Plains, NY and discovered the career that would become his lifelong passion, hair dressing.
In 1972 he married the love of his life Joyce, moved to Rockland County and opened Hair by Deja-Vu in Monsey and Pleasantville, NY. Throughout his career he traveled the world teaching hairstylists for Zotos, opened and worked in multiple hair salons and mentored many stylists. William lived in Pearl River, NY on West Central Ave. for 40 years where he raised his two daughters Victoria and Katie, spent every Sunday with his golf crew at Blue Hill Golf Course and developed a clientele that would span generations.
He then happily retired to his little piece of paradise in Naples, FL where you could find William on the golf course multiple times a week where he collected many golf tournament trophies. He loved reading on his patio, driving his yellow MG and being captain of his bocce team. He always lived an active lifestyle where you could have found him on a ski slope, at a concert, winning at a poker table or beating the younger guys on the racquetball court. He always said that as long as he was with his girls, he was happy.
William is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Joyce; his two daughters, Victoria and Katie; his sisters Denise, Barbara and Terri; his brothers Charles, Steven and James; his chosen brother Alan and his family; countless friends that became family, nieces, nephews, and his Florida crew that made retirement happier then he could have ever imagined.
He is predeceased by his mother Elizabeth (Betty) Hamberger; his father William E Hamberger; his sister Elizabeth Hamberger.
