William Carabine Obituary

William P. Carabine, 82, of Chestnut Ridge, NY left this life on April 14, 2021. He was born on February 9, 1939 in Bronx, NY where he lived until he moved to Rockland County, NY in 1973.

William graduated from Rice High School in Manhattan and then enrolled in the United States Army which he served for 2 years.  When he returned home from the Army he went to work for the New York City Department of Corrections and New York City Public Schools before retiring.

He is predeceased by his wife of 52 years Margaret “Tootsie” O’Connor Carabine.  He is survived by 3 daughters, Kathleen Carabine, Maureen Carabine and Eileen Tortoriello (Kevin) and 3 grandchildren, Brooke, Bella and Thomas Tortoriello.  He is also survived by siblings, Catherine “Kitty” Turpin, and Michael (Angela) Carabine and sister-in-law Patricia Carabine. He is predeceased by his parents Kathleen (Hannigan) and Thomas Carabine and sibling Thomas Carabine and brother-in-law Jimmy Turpin.  He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

A special acknowledgement to his daughter Maureen for caring for him tirelessly for the past 3 years to make his remaining time as comfortable as possible.  Also a special thank you to his long-time friend and brother-in-law Thomas O’Connor who was always there to lend a helping hand and childhood friend Butch Wamsley .

He will be waked on Friday, April 16, 2021 between 4-7pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, NY 10965. A celebration of life will be held at St. Aedan’s Catholic Church, 23 Reld Drive, Pearl River, NY 10965 on Saturday, April 17, 2021 at 11:30 am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in his name to the American Cancer Society.
