Vincent John Fortino "Fuzzy" of Pearl River, NY, passed away peacefully on, November 13, 2024. He was 89.
Born on July 19,1935, Mr. Fortino was a dedicated and hardworking man. He graduated from Samuel Gompers Industrial High School, where he developed his passion for mechanics, which eventually led him to Volvo as a Mechanic later ascending to the role of service manager. He later transitioned to a career as a painter at Lederle Labs in Pearl River, NY.
Vincent had a love of cars and enjoyment of working on them. He also found solace in riding motorcycles. Despite his disdain for the Yankees, he maintained a nightly ritual of watching their games, clinging to the hope of their defeat. A proud grandfather, Vincent was funny when he wanted to be and was good at breaking anyone’s chops. His good friend remarked “ To know him was to love him”.
He is survived by his daughter, Marie Elena Lawler (Kevin Lawler deceased), Domenic Fortino and wife Diana. Grandchildren James Lawler and his wife Kara, Michael Lawler and his wife Doina, Vincent Fortino and his wife Ani, Domenic Jr. Fortino and his wife Jessica. His great grandchildren Gia, Domenic, Viviana, Julianna, Elizabeth and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his sister, Sylvia "Booba" Polsky and his brother Frank (Nina). Vincent is predecease by his wife, Rose Elena, and his sister Marie Nagle.
Visiting will be held Sunday, November 17, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. 100 Franklin Ave, Pearl River, NY 10965. A graveside service will be held Monday, 11:00 AM, at The Cemetery of the Ascension Airmont, NY.
