Thomas Rooney

Thomas Rooney, formerly of Suffern, NY, passed away peacefully at the age of 81. He was the son of the late Patrick “Paddy” and Marie (Cunningham) Rooney of Donaghmoyne, Carrickmacross, Ireland. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary, his brothers Liam and Brian Rooney of Ireland, Patrick “Joe” Rooney of New City, NY and sister Kathleen “Kitty” Bachorik of Highland Mills, NY.

He is survived by his daughters, Christine Rooney and husband, Lee Hawley of Greenville, NC, Tara Murillo and husband Jesus, of Friday Harbor, WA, Erin Wik and husband Donald of Pearl River, NY; grandchildren, Declan, Kellen, Ciara, Catherine and Liam. His siblings Noel, Tony, Brendan, Sr. Christina, Anne, Philomena and Margaret. As well as several brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins in America, Ireland and abroad.

A memorial visitation will be held Monday, June 26, 2023 from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30am on Tuesday, June 27, 2023 at Sacred Heart Church, Suffern, NY. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
