Thomas Carpenito Obituary

Thomas A. Carpenito, 86, of Pearl River, NY passed away on August 3, 2024, with his family at his side.  He was a great husband, father, friend and police officer. He will be missed by all who knew him.

                Thomas was born New York City on September 24, 1937, and grew up on Mulberry Street, Little Italy, New York.  He was a true Italian New Yorker.

                Thomas was a dedicated New York City Police Officer for over 20 years. He was a founding member of the New York Anti-Crime Unit in the 23rd Precinct and served under Raymond Kelly.  He received many awards as a police officer including the Officer of the Month in June 1982 for “his arrest of four armed suspects who exchanged fire with numerous police officers”.  He retired as a Sergeant.  He also served in the United States Army.

                Thomas married the love of his life, Lana Carpenito, on September 28, 1963, and lived happily together in Pearl River for 61 years.  He is survived by his three children, Stephanie van der Linden, Stephen Carpenito and James Carpenito.  He was survived by his five (5) grandchildren, Austin, Garrett, Peyton, Thomas and Emily.

                He is predeceased by his parents, Annie and Sam Carpenito and sisters, Annette Scola, Louise Scola and Kathy Brooks.
