Tammy Lynn Reister Obituary

Tammy Lynn Reister of Nanuet, New York, passed
away on April 17, 2020 from complications with the
Coronavirus.
The daughter of the late Barry D. Reister and
Janet W. Reister, Tammy was born in Laconia, New
Hampshire. Tammy was born with Down
Syndrome, but that never stopped her from living a
full, happy and loving life. Tammy attended Jessie
Kaplan School to further develop her skills, which
helped her obtain jobs from packaging utensils to putting labels on
products. To most people, as far as jobs might go, these tasks might have
seemed meaningless, but to Tammy they brought her pure joy in her ability
to contribute.
As Tammy matured she entered into the group home, Tanglewood Acres of
Chestnut Ridge, New York. Tammy began a whole new chapter in her life,
she learned how to be an important part of an amazing home where she
made many close friendships with both residents and staff. Tammy had a
spirit immeasurable to any other, she loved big tight hugs and generous
wet kisses. Tammy was never one to hold back her LOVE!
In June of 2018 Tammy moved to the Sister Helen Murphy Home in
Nanuet, New York. Although she was learning new routines and new staff,
Tammy quickly became an unforgettable member of her new family.
Tammy is survived by her “Wonderful Brother”, Christopher Reister
(Kirsten) of Wallkill, New York, her sister, Candace MacLean (Keith) of
Amesbury, Massachusetts, nephew Connor MacLean, niece Madison
MacLean, both of Amesbury, Mass. Niece Alexis Reister, Ellenville, New
York, and great nieces, Kiley Oliver and Kali Oliver, both of Ellenville, New
York.
Tammy will be remembered for her outgoing personality and her outpouring
of affection, love and enthusiasm, whether at a Pearl River High School
sporting event with her father, Special Olympics or family gatherings.
Tammy’s family extends their heartfelt appreciation to the Tanglewood
House (Kathy and Staff), Sister Helen Murphy House (Izzy and Staff) and
the nurses and doctors at Montefiore Hospital in Nyack. Thank you for the
love and friendship that you gave to our sister.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Venture
