Susan McMahon Griffin, 74, of Whiting, New Jersey, passed away on January 9, 2024. She was born on September 11, 1949, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Elaine Bissell and John McMahon. Susan was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Susan had a vibrant personality and was known for her imagination and talent. She had a passion for music and was a singer who performed with various bands in New York, specializing in Rock, Disco, and R & B. Susan's talents took her on a USO tour in Germany with Main Squeeze, and she also sang with many Wedding Bands. She touched the lives of many people in recovery with her active service, and her contributions will be remembered and cherished.
In addition to her musical pursuits, Susan had a successful career. She worked as a Group Sales Manager for Westchester Broadway Theater and as an Employment Counselor for Jawonio and St. Dominics. Susan's dedication and professionalism made a lasting impact on her colleagues and the organizations she served.
Susan was a devoted mother and grandmother. She adored her daughter Elissa Johnson and grandson Jayden Lovell. Family was of utmost importance to Susan, and she had a close bond with her sisters Kathleen Koster and Mary Jane Steimer, as well as her niece Shannon Hatzichristos. Susan's love extended to her two beloved cats, Maxie and Scharlie, who were always well cared for and cherished.
Susan's educational journey included attending Sea Pines School for high school and earning a Bachelor of Science in Human Services from SUNY Empire.
A memorial service will be held to honor and remember Susan's life. The service will take place at the Wyman Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, New York, from 1 pm to 4 pm on Saturday, January 20, 2023.
Susan will forever be remembered for her creativity, talent, love for her family, and dedication to helping others. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
