Sandra Pfingst Obituary

Sandra Lynn Pfingst of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020 surrounded by loved ones. She was 77 years old.

Sandra was born on September 6, 1943 to Marshall and Jeanette Davis of Monsey, NY. She was the second oldest of four siblings, coming of age in the early 1960s – a period of music and culture that she loved and reminisced about often. She graduated from Spring Valley High School in 1961 and started working at Dexter Press in Pearl River, NY shortly afterward.

It was at Dexter Press that a smart and beautiful Sandra Davis met a hard-working and handsome Barry Pfingst. The two married in 1967 at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River, NY, a town they would permanently settle in to raise a family. Sandra stayed home to raise her children, Robert and Lori, through their early years, until eventually returning to work at First Federal Reserve Bank in downtown Pearl River – a place where she was affectionately known in the community for her warm smile, kindness, and strong work ethic. Her dedication to her community was shown in countless ways – Cub Scout den leader, Little League volunteer, champion for veterans, Chamber of Commerce President, and Rotary Club member – but her greatest joy came from her family, who she loved fiercely and unconditionally.

Sandra will forever be remembered for the variety and generosity she brought into this world – her famous baked macaroni and cheese, her love of swing dancing and music from the 50s and 60s, her thoughtful birthday cards and phone calls, and her telling of (sometimes surprisingly dirty) jokes. Most of all, she will be remembered for being a dedicated and loving wife, mom, and grandmother, and we will all miss her dearly.

Sandra is survived by Barry Pfingst of Pearl River, NY; Robert and Barbara Pfingst of Congers, NY; Lori Pfingst and Jon Boisoneau of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Alyssa, Matthew, Dylan, and Ava; brother, Skip Davis; sister, Mabel May; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends that she adored. She is predeceased by her father, Marshall Davis (1982), mother Jeanette Davis (2002), and brother Jimmy Davis (2018).

A wake to honor Sandra will be held on Friday, October 16 at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home from 3:00-5:00 PM and 7:00-9:00 PM. She will be laid to final rest on Saturday, October 17 at the Fred Loescher Veterans Cemetery, in New Hempstead, NY.
