Rudy E Hansen

Rudy E. Hansen passed away after a brief illness at the age of 92. Rudy  was born on July 14, 1932, in his mother and father’s house on Hansen Avenue in Pearl River, NY. He attended Pearl River Schools graduating in 1950. He then received an electrical degree from Alfred University. He was recruited right out of college by IBM as a systems manager and worked for them until he retired in 1987. Rudy then worked for his son in-law’s firm, F & F Industrial.

Rudy married Dotty Buhler on May 24, 1953, whom he started dating at the age of 16, when she was 14, at St Anthony’s Church. Rudy was drafted into the Army and stationed at Fort Benning, GA., serving from 1954-1956.

Rudy joined the second love of his life, the Pearl River Hook & Ladder at the age of 16. He was a life member for 73 years. Serving as Treasurer, President, fire police and 20 years as a commissioner of the Pearl River Fire District. He also served as Chaplain, which he took very seriously.

 Rudy served as a eucharistic minister. He also served on the Pearl River Cemetery board for many years

 Rudy is survived by his spouse of 72 years, Dotty, and children Richard and Lenore of Goshen, Virginia and Frank Fasano of Middletown, Anne and Terry Finneson of Milford, P.A., Robert and Fran Hansen of Nanuet. and Ron and Ruth Hansen of Nanuet. Grandchildren; Jennifer (Jeff) Smith, Robert (Kisha), Frank Jr. (Linda) Fasano, Joseph Fasano, Thomas (Sara) Fasano, John (Carly) Fasano, Rachel (Mike) Maciver (nee Finneson), Carl, Luke, Troy, and Allison. Great grandchildren; Jordan, Ryan, Sabina, Isabel, Leo, Lillian, Thomas, Nico, John, Brooke, and one on the way. Rudy is predeceased by his sister, Anna Laura Griffith.

The wake will be at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River on Sunday from 3-7 PM, with a firematic service at 6:15 PM. A Mass of Christian burial will be at St. Anthony’s Church in Nanuet Monday at 10 AM, followed by burial at Pearl River Cemetery, PO Box 804 Nanuet, NY 10954. In lieu of flowers any donations can be made to the Pearl River Cemetery or to the charity of their choice
