NANUET - Robert R. “Bobby” Wentland passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on June 15, 2023 at the Joe Raso Hospice Residence in New City at the age of 78.
He was born to Cyril F. Wentland and Pauline Sawinski at Nyack Hospital on December 7, 1944.
He was lifelong resident of Rockland County having lived at Camp Shanks in Nanuet. He was graduate of the inaugural Nanuet Senior High School class of 1962. Upon graduating, Bobby enlisted in the United States Navy and was a Vietnam Veteran serving his country from 1962 to 1966. Bobby was a master carpenter, steam engineer, boat builder, inventor, coach, artist, philanthropist and most importantly a volunteer for his community. Bobby was an avid outdoorsman spending countless hours traversing the Hudson River Valley. He was a devout Catholic and a parishioner of St. Aedan’s Church in Pearl River.
The most cherished aspect of Bobby’s life was his family. He adored them and they adored him.
Bobby is survived by his loving brother Walter and his wife Suzanne, his son Walter (Dawn), son John (Melode), daughter Melissa (Louie) and son Jimmy (Katherine). Nine grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Bobby is also survived by numerous cousins and nieces who he loved dearly.
Bobby is predeceased by his father Cyril, mother Pauline, brother Thomas, sister Cynthia and granddaughter Emily.
Bobby will be solely missed by all who knew him especially his loving family.
Visitation will be held on Monday, June 19th from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, N.Y. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 20th at St. Aedan’s Church in Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery in Nanuet, New York.
