Robert Lee Nissen age 79, of Pearl River, NY, went to his Eternal Home, Tuesday, October 13, 2020 at Northern Manor Multicare Center in Nanuet, NY, ending a long struggle with Huntington’s Disease. He was an active member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Pearl River. He worked as a CPA in Denver, Colorado, before retiring in 2010 and moving to Pearl River.
He was born February 12, 1941 in Humphrey, Nebraska, the son of the late Margaret (Koopman) and Ewald Nissen. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Ervin and Leonard, and his sister, Lorraine Longacre.
Bob married his wife, Bernice Pooker, of 53 years in Denver, Colorado, where they raised their daughters, Cara Nissen of Boise, Idaho, Amy (Craig) Bond of Long Beach, California and Laura (Vincent) Michello of New City, NY. He was Opa to grandchildren, Vincent, Tommy and Lyla Michello of New City.
He is remembered with joy by his wife and daughters for being a driving force in family adventures and activities; skiing, hiking, running (marathons), always an enthusiastic, encouraging fan of his daughter’s and grandchildren’s sports activities. Bob was a loyal, longtime friend to many people.
