With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Robert James Altieri on Tuesday, March 17, 2026.
He was born on January 8, 1962, in the Belmont section of the Bronx, New York, to Giovanni and Antoinette. He grew up in a neighborhood where neighbors became friends and family. Robert proudly served as a New York City Police Department Detective for 20 years before retiring.
Robert is lovingly remembered by his three children, Kristin, Robert, and Frankie. He was a devoted and proud grandfather to Vincenzo, Giovanna, and Francesca, and a dear brother to Johnny and Tommy. He is also survived by many loving nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends who became family.
Anyone who knew Robert will remember him for his sense of humor, nonstop stories, big-kid personality, generosity, and huge heart. An avid sports enthusiast and devoted New York Yankees fan, he also loved listening to Franki Valli and often shared his favorite songs with those around him.
Robert will be deeply missed and his love, laughter, and stories will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with those who went before him.
A visitation will take place on Friday, March 20, 2026, from 4:00 - 8:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, New York. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM at St. Augustine’s Church in New City. Entombment will immediately follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, New York.
