Richard Molloy Obituary

Richard Joseph Molloy (88) passed away peacefully in his sleep on 12/16/25. Born in Manhattan on 11/4/37, to Richard & Ita Molloy (immigrants of County Cork & Limerick, Ireland, respectively). He served in the Army National Guard (1955-1958) & United States Army (1958-1961) stationed in Germany. He was a member of the New York City Police Department, retiring as a Sergeant from the Crime Scene Unit after 33 years of service.

Richard married the love of his life, Loretta (nee McMahon), on 11/28/64, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in the Bronx, & celebrated 61 years together. They moved from the Bronx to Rockland County in 1966. He was a graduate of Cardinal Hayes High School, received a Bachelor's degree from Pace University & was a certified Polygraphist after graduating from the National Training Center of Polygraph Science.

He served three terms as President of the Hudson Valley 10-13, Vice President of the National 10-13, member of American Legion 1044, Rockland County Shields, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 188, NYPD Emerald Society, NYPD Retired Sergeants, VA Met Hope Golf League, Catholic War Veterans, Pearl River Gun Club, & former usher and parishioner of St. Aedan's Church.

Richard is survived by his wife Loretta & sons Richard (Margaret) Molloy & Thomas Molloy, daughter Maureen (Edward) Wynne & grandchildren: Michael Molloy, Richard Molloy, Thomas Wynne, Daniel Wynne, Kathryn Wynne & Elizabeth Wynne.

He is survived by siblings Elizabeth (John) Pryor, John Molloy, Margaret Clinton, Patrick (Barbara) Molloy, & William (Linda) Molloy, Sister-in-law Patricia McTigue & numerous nieces, nephews & friends.

He is predeceased by his parents, siblings Denis Molloy, Michael Molloy, Alice Molloy & Mary Anne Purdy, In-laws Eugene & Mary McMahon, Sister-in-law Kathleen McMahon & Joan McGuinness.

Richard will be remembered as having an amazing memory, an avid reader, a history buff, full of wisdom, determination, an easy-going personality, fiercely loyal to his family and friends, and the ability to give his whole self into anything he tackled. Two of his greatest pleasures in life were discussing politics and playing a round of golf at Blue Hills.

Visiting will be held at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home from 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM on Sunday December 21,2025. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM, Monday, December 22, at St Aedan R.C. Church. Burial will follow at St. Anthony Cemetery.
