Ralph Capogrosso, a longtime resident of Pearl River, New York, passed away peacefully at his home on July 14, 2026. He was 69 years old.
Born on May 10, 1957, to Joseph Capogrosso and Erminia De Michele, Ralph spent his childhood and early years in the Bronx, New York. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Iona College, graduating in 1982. Ralph went on to work as a skilled carpenter with Carpenters Union Local 157 in Manhattan for 30 years.
On April 27, 1985, Ralph married the love of his life, Antoinette “Toni” Meliti, at Marina del Rey in the Bronx. Together, they built a beautiful life and made Pearl River their home for the past 37 years.
Ralph will forever be remembered as a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend. He loved his family passionately and was happiest when surrounded by the people he loved. Ralph had a larger-than-life personality and often joked that he was “famous” in the paddleball community and beyond. He truly seemed to have a friend for everything and had a special way of connecting with people wherever he went.
Ralph’s greatest passions included cooking for his family and friends and playing paddleball. He also treasured the time he spent in Hollywood Beach, Florida, a place that brought him great happiness and many wonderful memories.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife, Toni; his sons, Joseph and his wife, Alana, and Nicholas and his wife, Elizabeth; his cherished grandchildren, Joe Joe, James, and Emma; and his sister, Jo-Ann, and her husband, Paul. He also leaves behind many loving relatives and dear friends who will miss him deeply.
Ralph’s warmth, humor, generosity, and unwavering love for his family will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.
Family and friends are invited to attend visitation on Friday, July 17, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, New York.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. at Saint Aedan R.C Church. Entombment will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
