Philip Francis Flotard

Philip Francis Flotard of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2020 at Montrose V.A. Nursing Home in Montrose, NY.  He was 93.

Philip was born May 27, 1926 in Piermont, NY to James and Josephine (Lynch) Flotard.  He was raised in Cresskill, NJ and graduated from Tappan Zee High School.

Mr. Flotard served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946 attaining the rank of Seaman First Class and served in the Philippines during WW II.

On June 18, 1949 he married Julia Lombardi at St. John R. C. Church in Piermont, NY.

Mr. Flotard was a salesman for Empire Candy Company in Nanuet, NY for 30 years and after retiring continued working as a part time school bus driver for Chestnut Ridge Transportation into his 80’s. 

He was a scout master of Pearl River Troop 134, a volunteer for the Pearl River Ambulance Corp. and a member of the VFW Post #7462 in Piermont, NY.

Philip AKA Flip will be remembered as a cheerful, loving, dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle and cousin. One of his most treasured activities was to dance with his wife Julia.

He is survived by his wife, Julia; sons, James (Buddy) of Milford, PA, Raymond of Washingtonville, NY and Gregory and wife, Kathy of Newburgh, NY; grandchildren, Matthew of Newburgh, NY and Michelle of Queens, NY. He is also survived by his sister, Helen Beahm of Abington, PA and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.  He is predeceased by his mother Josephine and father James Flotard; his siblings Billy, Jimmy and Mary.

Visitation is Monday February 10th from 3pm to 5pm and 7pm to 9 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY.  A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00am on Tuesday February 11th at St. Margaret R. C. Church in Pearl River, NY.  Burial will follow at Frederick Loescher Veteran Cemetery in New Hempstead, NY.
