Peter A Torezan

Peter A. "Pete" Torezan, a 50-year resident of Pearl River, NY, died on Saturday, June 14, at The Valley Hospital, in Paramus, NJ. He was aged 84 and died after batting kidney disease and other complications for several months.

Pete, also affectionately known as Mr. Pete and Mr. T., possessed a great talent for building and made a business as a general contractor, as well as having proudly worked with Bertussi's Plumbing in Pearl River for many years.

During his career, he designed and built many home additions in and around Pearl River. Throughout his life, he lent his talents to friends and neighbors, standing at the ready to fix any house-related problem and to offer his expertise.

In addition to building, Pete was an avid gardener, having learned his techniques from his maternal grandfather, Salvatore Barbagallo. He was especially proud of his tomatoes, growing numerous varieties and gifting them to anyone and everyone.

Pete had an artistic streak and was well-known for creating home-cooked feasts and for his ability to draw.

During the early 1960s, Pete trained as a medic in the US Army. Unsurprising to those who knew him, he worked his way into maintenance, so that he could focus on the things he truly loved to do.

Pete was married to Elaine (nee Minardi) Torezan for nearly 50 years and is father to Jen (Alex) Torezan. He is survived by his loving brother, Ron, and is pre-deceased by his brother, Edward Torezan, uncle, Edward Barbagallo, mother Jenny (nee Barbagallo) Torezan and father, Mario Torezan.

He will be sorely missed and warmly remembered for his generosity in sharing his talents and his sense of humor.

Calling hours will be 4 to 8 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, and the funeral will be 10:30 AM on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home at 100 Franklin Avenue in Pearl River, NY. Interment will follow at Rockland Cemetery, 201 Kings Highway, Sparkill, NY.
