Patrick Murphy Obituary

Patrick Joseph Murphy Beloved Son, Brother, Uncle, Cousin, Friend Patrick Joseph Murphy, 38, a lifelong resident of Pearl River, NY. He was the beloved son of Peggy (Healy) and Sean Murphy, cherished brother of Kerry Murphy Dolan and brother-in-law to Ted Dolan, and a proud uncle to Danny and Jack Dolan. Patrick was also a devoted Godfather to Danny Dolan, Tristan Tapia, and Nora Pogeweit. He was the adored nephew of Brendan and Kathie Murphy of Tampa, FL; Terry Healy of Marlboro, NY; Nancy Healy of Dillard, GA; and Godson of Debbie and Chuck Venedam of Point Pleasant, NJ. Patrick leaves behind a large extended family across New York, New Jersey, Florida, and Ireland, as well as countless lifelong friends and honorary nieces and nephews who will miss “Uncle Pat” deeply. A 2005 graduate of Pearl River High School and a 2009 graduate of Iona College, Patrick was an accomplished bagpiper, beginning as a teenager in the AOH Bagpipe Band and the Police Pipes and Drums of Bergen County. He went on to play on scholarship at Iona College and later with the Bergen Irish Pipe Band, competing in cities across the U.S. and proudly performing at the World Pipe Band Championships in Glasgow, Scotland. Patrick was known as the life of every gathering—quick with a joke, a story, or a helping hand. He loved to entertain, cook, and help others whenever he could. Each holiday he would go above and beyond to decorate and make things memorable and festive. He shined the most as an uncle, being a big kid himself. His nephews and all his honorary nieces and nephews always knew "Uncle Pat" would show up with a toy, go to a game, help strategize in chess, or watch an episode of Octonauts. Though Santa often managed to arrive while Pat was “mysteriously missing,” he always returned just in time to share in the excitement of the moment. His Irish heritage was a lifelong source of pride and joy. From playing for the Rockland GAA in his youth to visiting family in Ireland, Patrick carried the traditions and spirit of his ancestors with him everywhere he went. His generous heart, vibrant humor, and sense of community will be remembered by all who knew him. Family and friends will gather to celebrate Patrick’s life at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home on Thursday from 3:00–7:00 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Aedan’s Roman Catholic Church in Pearl River, NY.
