Patrick J McMahon

Patrick J McMahon passed away peacefully at his home in Pearl River, NY at the age of 88 on May 20th, 2024 surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born on April 29, 1936 in Kilrush Co. Clare, Ireland to Margaret (nee Eustice) and Peter McMahon. His cherished memories were growing up with his 5 siblings on the family farm in Ireland before moving to London, England as a teenager. Always a wanderer, he moved to New York in 1959, his second home, and joined the US Army in 1960. He had a passion for Irish and American history as well as a love of geography and travel. His other loves were reading, sport, Irish music, poetry and dance, working in his garden and talking everything from politics to general knowledge. Most of all he loved spending time with his loving wife of 60 years, Mary, Deirdre (nee Wicklow) with whom he thoroughly enjoyed the everyday routine as well as celebrating special family occasions and taking return trips to Ireland. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his five children, Bernadette (Brian), Kevin, Maura (Kevin), Brian (Al) and Patrick and his eight grandchildren, Megan (Jimmy), Sarah, Conor, Liam, Aidan, Kristine, Ashley and Emma. He is also survived by his brothers Michael (Mary), Peadar (Jane) and sister Maureen (Brendan). He is predeceased by his brother John and sister Theresa. A mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday May 23rd at 11 am at St. Margaret’s Church, Pearl River, NY. A viewing will take place Wednesday May 22nd from 4.00 pm - 8.00 pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home , 100 Franklin Ave. Pearl River, NY 10965.
