Patrick Lunney Obituary

Patrick F. Lunney Sr. “The Chief” of Pearl River, NY, passed away on April 18, 2019 surrounded by his loving family.  He was 86.
Patrick was born in Swanlinbar Co. Cavan Ireland on January 17, 1933.  He was born into the O ̀ Luinigh family trade of hospitality originating in 1909.  Patrick arrived in the United States in 1960 at the age of 27.  He worked as a bartender in Brooklyn and NYC.
Carrying on his family legacy, he opened his first pub Hennessy’s in Monroe, NY.  Moving downstate he opened Lunney’s in Orangeburg, NY.  His next venture was taking a bite out of The Big Apple opening Twins Irish Pub in 1970 named after his twin sons Patrick and Danny.
He is survived by his beloved sons and their wives, Kim and Sheila and his prized grandchildren, Kayla, Patrick, Liam, and Rory.  Known to his devoted grandchildren as PaPa, Chief, and Pa.  He is also survived by his brothers, Hugh and his wife, Maureen of Yonkers, NY, Father Sean of South Africa and his sisters, Ena, Martha and Margaret Mary in Ireland as well as many nieces and nephews.  Patrick is predeceased by his mother, Margaret and father, Patrick as well as his brother Dr. Aiden Lunney.  He will be missed and remembered as loving generous man. 
 A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, April 24th, 10:00 AM at St. Catharine of Alexandria R.C. Church, Blauvelt.  Burial will follow Rockland Cemetery, Sparkill, NY. Visiting will be held Tuesday, April 23rd, from 4 to 8PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
