Patricia (Leyden) Woods

Patricia (Leyden) Woods, 79 passed away peacefully on January 30, 2025 at Joe Raso Hospice in New City NY. She was surrounded by love in her final moments, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength and warmth. Patricia was born on April 11,1945 to the late James and Margaret Leyden (Mc Aneney) at New York Hospital. She proudly grew up in the South Bronx with her close knit Irish family of grandparents, Aunts, Uncles and cousins all close by. She attended St. Lukes grade school and  graduated St. Pius high school in1963. She met and fell in love with Thomas Woods and married in June,1969 at St. Lukes Church.. She and Tom settled in Pearl River where they raised their children. Eventually Pat went back to school and became a nurse working many years as a pediatric nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital. 

Patricia lived a life filled with love for her family, friends, and community. She was known for her generous spirit, unwavering compassion, quick witty one-liners, fabulous cooking  and ability to make those around her feel truly seen and cared for. Whether through her work, her passions, or simply her presence, she touched countless lives. She is survived by those who loved her dearly, including daughter Kirsten Sherman,( Michael) son,Thomas, (Ellen). Her grandchildren Devin and Avery Sherman, Adam and Siobahn Woods. She is survived by her loving sister Ann Hayward, and her husband Tom. Her sisters in law Patrica Leyden and Maureen Ryan. Her nieces and Nephews, Kieran, Meghan,Leanne, Maggie and Michael,Pete,Jeanne,Tricia and Laura. She is predeceased by her parents, James and Margaret, husband Tom, and brother James. Her memory will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her. 

A celebration of Patricia's life will be held at Wyman Fisher Funeral home Pearl River NY February 6th 2025  4:00 to 8:00 where friends and family will gather to honor her journey and the love she shared so freely. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, February 7th 2025 at St. Margaret R.C. Church, Pearl River NY.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joe Raso Hospice Residence 415 Buena Vista Rd New City NY 10956 or St Lukes Church 623 E 138th St. Bronx NY 10454, as a reflection of Patricia's lifelong dedication to helping others. Her kindness, wisdom, and laughter will be deeply missed but forever carried in our hearts.
