Patricia Holland Obituary

Patricia T. Holland, a 69-year resident of Pearl River, died peacefully on Friday, June 20, 2025, in her home surrounded by family. She was 95.  She was born Patricia Teresa O’Brien in Bronx, NY, on March 13, 1930, the first child of John William O’Brien and Mary Wilson. She spent a good portion of her childhood years in Kilkenny, Ireland, and London, England. These years afforded her the gift of getting to know beloved relatives who would remain special in her heart, although an ocean away, after the family returned to the Bronx.

Patricia married Daniel Joseph Holland on October 9, 1954. The two moved to their home in Pearl River in 1956 and happily remained there through their older years, welcoming family and friends, especially grandchildren. She has been a parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church of Pearl River and enjoyed visits from Fr. Rasser in the last months of her life when she could not attend mass.

Patricia was a secretary for the Navy Department in NYC but traded in the commute for a career at Lederle Laboratories in Pearl River, where she spent 24 years as a professional, meticulous, highly respected employee and friend.

In 1994, Patricia was promoted to “Granny.” She spent the next three decades loving, cheering on, protecting, and laughing with her grandchildren. In return, her grandchildren have taken the lessons provided to them by her and Pop-pop and have become beautiful, accomplished, caring young men and women. Their devotion to their Granny over the years, even as they became busy adults, remained one of Patricia’s greatest comforts.

Patricia is predeceased by her parents; her husband Daniel; her sister Mary Fallon; her brother John O’Brien and his wife Maureen; her sister-in-law Josephine Rella and her husband Nick; and her cousin Mary O’Sullivan.

She is survived by her children: Pamela (Jeffrey) Lashbrook; Patricia (John) McCarthy; and William (Maria) Holland; Cousin Michael O’Sullivan; and her grandchildren: Brenna Lashbrook; Christian (Madeline) Lashbrook; William (Caroline) Holland; Daniella Holland; Patrick Holland; Emma McCarthy; Michayla O’Sullivan; her friend and companion, Alinda, and many beloved nieces, nephews, neighbors, and friends.
