Michael J Smith

Michael J. Smith of West Nyack, NY passed away peacefully after a short illness on February 16, 2023.

Michael was born April 5, 1939, in Bronx, NY to Margaret (McGuier) and Thomas Smith. After high school, he enlisted in the Navy, was stationed in New London, CT, and was assigned to the submarine Becuna. He returned to CT after his honorable discharge and was employed as a carpenter.  After many years in NY, he retired and was able to spend quality time in CT with family.

Michael was predeceased by his brother, Thomas Francis Smith and an infant sister.  He is survived by his cousins and friends.  Michael will be laid to rest on February 22, 2023, at 11:00 at  Cemetery of the Ascension, 650 Saddle River Rd. Airmont, NY.

There will be no calling hours. A Mass in his honor will be held at Saint Patrick Church in East Hampton, CT this spring.
