Michael Halpin Obituary

Michael Halpin of Pearl River, NY, passed away on July 9, 2025, at the age of 88.

Born on September 18, 1936, in Kilrush, County Clare, Ireland, Mike was the son of Martin and Nora (Miniter) Halpin. He immigrated to New York in 1955 and proudly served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1958, including overseas duty in Korea. Following his military service, Mike continued his commitment to public service as a police officer with the New York City Police Department, assigned to the 46th Precinct in the Bronx.

Mike served as president of both the Rockland Irish American Cultural Center and the Rockland Gaelic Athletic Association. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, Division 3. He was honored as Grand Marshal of the 2004 Rockland County St. Patrick’s Day Parade in Pearl River. He was also a devoted parishioner of St. Margaret’s Church and a member of the Hudson Valley 10-13 Club.

He is survived by his four children, son Michael Jr., son John and his wife Victoria, daughter Kathleen and her husband Jeff, grandson Jack, and son Kevin and his wife Kiko, grandson Liam, his sister Mary, and her husband Jim, his brother Vincent and his wife Mary, his sisters-in-law, Mary, Breeda and Nancy, and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife of 50 years, Bridget (Bridie) (Monaghan) Halpin, his parents, and his brothers Patrick, Martin, Senan, and Larry.

Michael Halpin will be remembered for his warmth, dedication, and pride in both his Irish heritage and American service.
