Michael J. Gleeson

Michael J. Gleeson of Pearl River, NY passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2022.  He was 87.
Mr. Gleeson worked as a stationary engineer for Harlem Hospital and Amtrak before retiring in 1989.
Michael was born March 31, 1935 in Lossett, Hollyford, County Tipperary, Ireland to Patrick and Sarah Ryan Gleeson.  He emigrated to the United States in 1957.
Locally, he was a member of the Celtic Golf Club, a former member of the Crown Golf Club and a member of the Rockland Irish American Club. In the 60's he was a member of the Tipperary Hurling Club in Gaelic Park. 
Michael will be remembered as a loving father and grandfather, who enjoyed life to the fullest and being with family and friends. He was an honorable man with a strong work ethic.  He loved to play golf and dance.  He  had a wonderful zest of life.
He is survived by his children, Rita (Habib) Barkachy, Annemarie Gleeson Lugin, Michael (Mary) Gleeson Jr., and Liam (Jennifer) Gleeson; his grandchildren, Lauren Barkachy-Farzad (Brandon), Michael Barkachy, Peter Ryan (Gabriella) Shaffery, Jack Shaffery, Colin Mikayla, Chloe, Liam Charles and Finnegan Gleeson, brother, Liam Gleeson of Briarcliff, NY, sister, Mary Gleeson Hynes of Limerick Ireland and his  loving partner Bridget Carmody. He is predeceased by his wife, Eileen (2002), brothers, Rodger Gleeson, Patrick Gleeson and Martin Gleeson.  
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday at Church of the Presentation, Upper Saddle River, NJ.  Burial will follow at Cemetery of the Ascension, Airmont, NY.  Visiting is Sunday from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
