Michael Murray of Pearl River, NY, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Saturday, May 16, 2026. He was 81 years old.
Michael was born to James Murray and Mary Alice McCreesh on December 15, 1944 in Armagh, Ireland. He had a wonderful childhood growing up in his hometown of Crossmaglen. He loved farming in the fields, riding the tractor and playing cards around the table in the evenings.
In 1963 Michael emigrated to the Bronx, NY. He began working as a carpenter and became a wonderful, accomplished one over time. He enjoyed going to the Red Mill and the Jaeger House to dance and meet family and friends. He soon met Rosaleen and they were married on November 4, 1967.
Michael and Rosaleen had a beautiful marriage which was blessed with a love that grew deeper and stronger every day. Michael dedicated his life to Rosaleen, and his two daughters, Mary and Linda, and later his cherished grandchildren. He always treasured his Irish roots, so they got their daughters involved in Irish dancing and Irish music lessons. Many happy days were spent going to Irish dance competitions where they would spend the day enjoying family and friends.
Michael was the most loving husband, father and grandfather. He gave his life to caring, loving and supporting his family in every way possible. He was always there to lend a helping hand, to listen and to offer advice. He took such pride in seeing his children, grandchildren and nieces and nephews grow and thrive. He enjoyed getting together with family, sharing fond memories, creating new ones and treasuring family vacations each year.
Michael was a faithful parishioner at St. Margaret's Church after moving from St. Barnabas Church when living in Yonkers. Michael instilled a love of God in his family and the importance of faith. It brought him comfort and peace throughout his life. Michael cared for and was so devoted to his wife Rosaleen when she battled Alzheimer's disease. He was attentive, committed and so loving.
Before his passing he would say, "Now don't cry for me when I am gone. I will be with my angel, Rosaleen."
Michael is survived by beloved daughter, Mary (Billy Woods), beloved daughter, Linda (Tommy Connolly), and grandchildren Liam, Kieran, Aidan , Colleen, John, Tara and Erin. He is survived by his siblings Jim, Margaret, Eileen, Kathleen, Gerry, Frank, Bessie, Joan, Mary, Clare and Joe. He was predeceased by his father, James Murray, his mother, Mary Alice McCreesh, brother, John, and sister, Alice. He is survived by many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
