With much love and sadness we announce the passing of Michael A Comar, known to many as “Gussie”, of Pearl River, NY. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on April 28th, 2023. Michael was born on May 9th, 1933 in Loughatorick, Woodford, County Galway, Ireland to Michael and Katherine née Halloran. In 1961, he followed his childhood sweetheart Ellen to the United States. They were happily married for over 60 years. They settled in the Inwood section of Manhattan in Good Shepherd Parish, where they raised their two children Michael and Karen and spent many Sundays at Gaelic Park sharing their love of the game. A proud Irishman, Michael shared his love for his culture and heritage with his children. He worked for Local Union 94 as an operating engineer for 38 years before retiring and moving to Pearl River. He will be remembered as a devoted husband, adoring father, and cherished grandfather, uncle, and friend. His greatest joy was being with his family and hearing the news from home. He was an avid Mets fan and loved to listen to Irish music. His warm heart, kindness, humor, and quick wit will be deeply missed by all who knew him. Michael was preceded in death by his beloved son Michael, his parents, and his siblings, Seamus, Bridie, Mary, Dick, and Martin. He is survived by his devoted wife Ellen, his loving daughter Karen and son-in-law Michael, his cherished grandchildren Emma and Michael, his beloved niece Ann, his sister Nancy, and his many nieces and nephews both here and abroad. Visiting will be Monday, May 1, 2023 from 4:00PM to 8:00PM, at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Pearl River NY.
