Maureen Strehle Obituary

With great sadness, we announce Maureen Strehle passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, March 4, 2024.

Maureen was born on November 22, 1942. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, and friend. Born and raised in Long Island City, NY, she was the oldest of three children and graduated from Julia Richman High School. Maureen and her husband Michael were longtime residents of Pearl River, NY, where they built a family and a life filled with love and laughter. They were an example of a true love story, and their love is an inspiration to all. Michael was the love of her life. Maureen spent many years alongside her husband while he coached at Pearl River Little League, where she spent many games in dugouts cheering on Mike and his teams. As the years have passed, she has come to be known as “Coach Maureen” on the baseball field and basketball court. Maureen and Michael enjoyed their summers at Midway Beach, NJ, in their home that they filled with loved ones each year. Maureen lived every day to the fullest, and everywhere she went, she made a friend. We will miss her loving heart and the way she always went above and beyond to make those in her life feel special and appreciated. Her children and grandchildren describe her as their number one cheerleader in all their endeavors.

In addition to her loving and devoted husband Michael, Maureen is survived by her four children: Jerry Strehle, Kelly (Jim) King, Michael (Laura) Strehle, and Denise (Brian) Caunitz along with her grandchildren: James, Kaitlin, Allison, Shannon, Jillian, Mackenzie, Brendan, Chase, Rebecca, Ryan, Rylie, Paige, and Dylan. She is also survived by her sister Eileen (Thomas) Pellegrino and brother William (Maria) Henehan along with her cousins, nieces, and nephews who she loved dearly. Maureen is predeceased by her parents, William and Marion Henehan, and her grandson Michael Brendan King, who she spoke of as her sweet little angel. She felt so proud to share her grandchildren with her best friend; together they earned the title of “Nana and Baba". Maureen will be deeply missed.
