Maryann Scavetta Obituary

Maryann Gail (Langbein) Scavetta (1957-2025) was a paragon of strength, love, empathy and compassion. Maryann was born in Brooklyn to Dorothy & Martin, and raised in Woodhaven, Queens where she attended Franklin K Lane Highschool.

She was an avid bowler and spent a lot of her time bowling with family and friends, both for fun and in bowling leagues, where she actually met her husband, Paul Scavetta.

Maryann and Paul have been happily married since 1991, moving up to Pearl River in Rockland County from Queens in 1994. The Couple have been loyal members to the Methodist Church in Pearl River, NY.

Maryann was a hardworking employee, working at FlowerRama in Queens and then at ShopRite in Pearl River while simultaneously working part time in the Good Shepherd nursery school.

Though Maryann loved her jobs, her favorite role was being a grandparent to Maggie J Demato & Logan A Demato; born to Daniel Demato & Allison F Demato. The three have made so many beautiful memories together and have shown the beauty of unconditional love that Maryann embodied.

Maryann was a loving & brave mother, who raised and is survived by four children; Daniel Demato (45), Richard A Demato (42), Lisa M Scavetta (29) and Christine L Scavetta (26.) who will continue to carry the legacy that their mother has left behind; a legacy of kindness, courage & compassion.

Maryann is survived by her loving family including her three dear sisters Karen O’Brien, Nancy Carestia, Dorothy Langbein and brother Martin Langbein as well as a multitude of nieces & nephews.

Visitation will be at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, Monday, June 30, 2025, from 3-5 PM and 7-9  PM. A prayer service will be held on Tuesday, 10:30 AM, at the funeral home.

Per Maryann’s request, please dress COMFORTABLY and preferably no black, as we will be celebrating her life not mourning it.
