Maryann J. Durney 69, passed away on April 24, 2023 at Tolstoy Foundation Nursing Home.
Maryann was born May 7, 1953 in New York City to the late John F. and Theresa M. Durney. She was the oldest of their three children and was a lifelong resident of Ablondi Road in Pearl River, NY. Maryann was a loving caregiver to their parents as they aged, without her dedication and help they would not have been able to survive at home.
She enjoyed watching Notre Dame football with her dad along with the NY Yankees and NY Giants. Comedian Steve Harvey was her nightly TV favorite.
Maryann loved to babysit little children and watched many kids grow up on Ablondi Road over the years. Holidays were her special time to give out candy and wrap small gifts. She enjoyed talking to everyone who would listen and was especially fond of dogs, having one at her side for decades.
Maryann had a deep faith for the Catholic Church attending St. Anthony in Nanuet in her early years and continuing mass services at St. Aedan in Pearl River when the parish opened.
She will be sorely missed but leaves loving memories for her family. She is survived by her brothers and wives, Mark and Linda and John and Patricia; along with nephews, John IV, Mark (wife, Theresa and children, Mariel, Joseph and Lucas) and Christopher and niece, Jaclyn (John) Emmons; as well as many cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Monday at St. Aedan R. C. Church. Burial will follow at Frederick Loescher Veterans Cemetery, New Hempstead, NY.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Excelsior Engine Company, Pearl River, NY or Tolstoy Foundation.
