Mary (Rosaleen) Murray

Mary (Rosaleen) of Pearl River, NY, passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her family on Tuesday, January 10, 2023.  She was 78 Years old.   

Rosaleen was born to Patrick Murray and Rose Flynn on September 5, 1944 in Leitrim, Ireland.  She had a wonderful childhood growing up in her hometown of Aughnasheelin.  In 1963 she emigrated to the Bronx, NY.  Many of her early memories included working at the telephone company and dancing at the Red Mill.  She met Michael and they were married on November 4, 1967.

Rosaleen and Michael had a beautiful marriage which was blessed with a love that grew deeper and deeper every day.  Rosaleen’s life was devoted to Michael, her two daughters, Mary and Linda and later her grandchildren.  She always remembered the home she came from so she decided to get her daughters involved in Irish dancing and Irish music lessons.  She loved going to the Irish dance competitions where they would spend the day enjoying family and friends.

Locally, she was a faithful parishioner at St. Margaret Church before moving from St. Barnabas Church when living in Yonkers.  

Rosaleen was the most loving wife, mother and grandmother.  She dedicated her life to being there, caring for and loving her family unconditionally.  She was loved by all and was always there with a gentle smile, a kind word and an open heart.

During the last thirteen years of her life, when she battled Alzheimer’s disease, her husband Michael cared for her and was devoted to her in a way that went above and beyond.  He was loving, attentive and committed.  He loved his angel. 

She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael of 55 years, beloved daughter, Mary (Billy Woods), beloved daughter, Linda (Tommy Connolly) and grandchildren Liam, Kieran, Aidan, Colleen, John, Tara and Erin.  Rosaleen is survived by sister, Margie, and brother Padraig.  She is also survived by many loving brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews. Rosaleen is predeceased by her father, Patrick, mother, Rose and brother, Sean.  

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Margaret R.C.Church, Pearl River.  Burial will follow at St . Anthony Cemetery, Nanuet, NY.  Visiting is Friday from 2:00 to 4:00 PM and 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc.
