Mary Ann (Millon) O’Reilly

Mary Ann O’Reilly (née Millon) passed away peacefully on July 29, 2026. She was born on January 21, 1939 in Jersey City, New Jersey to parents William and Mary “Mae” (Briody) Millon. 

After graduating from St. Dominic Academy in Jersey City, Mary Ann left the East Coast to become a proud Michigan State Spartan. After college, she returned home to the Garden State to begin a long career in education at Elwood Park High School.

She enjoyed her summers at the Jersey Shore and winter weekends skiing in Vermont and the Catskills with her friends where she met her husband, Frank. The two were married in 1972 and eventually moved from Queens to the suburbs in New City, NY. 

Leaving her teaching career for a few years to be a mother never slowed Mary Ann down. She was heavily involved in St. Anthony’s Parish and School in Nanuet. She served as President of the Home School Association, taught CCD classes, led Girl Scout Troops to their Gold Awards and sat through years of soccer, softball and CYO basketball games. She eventually returned to teaching, joining the faculty at St. Catharine School in Blauvelt and St. Paul School in Valley Cottage. 

Mary Ann was delighted by the arrival of her granddaughters and spent much of her retirement time with them and their activities. When not traveling extensively throughout Europe, North America and the Caribbean, Mary Ann enjoyed her book club discussions, schlepping to Jets games on Sundays and get-togethers with her close- knit group of friends. 

Preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Mae, as well as her husband Frank, Mary Ann is survived by her daughter Jennifer, son-in-law Brian and two granddaughters Fiona and Éireann. She is also survived by her brother, William Millon, Jr., brother-in-law, Paul Maloney and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and close friends she called her family.

The family asks that in lieu of gifts of condolence, you consider making donations in Mary Ann’s memory to NYPD With Arms Wide Open, a non-profit organization that assists NYPD officers with special needs and medically complex children, or the charitable organization closest to your heart. Nothing would make her happier than you enjoying a box of Almaden Chardonnay and a good book in her honor.
