Mary Olson Obituary

Mary Elizabeth Olson passed away at Good Samaritan Hospital on September 28th, 2025 peacefully with all of her family around her.

Her beloved husband of 53 years, Philip Martin Olson predeceased her in 2013. 

 

Mary graduated from Pleasantville High School and Berkley College in New York.

She is survived by her three Eagle Scout sons Mark (spouse: Brenda), Matt (spouse: Lisa) and Chris (spouse: Bridget) and 7 grandchildren

Sarah, Kevin, Laura (spouse: Brendan), Leanne, Jenna, Ryan and Kate and her brother Karl (spouse: Carol).

 

Mary worked in New York City for 9 years at U.S. Steel. After her children were in school, she worked as a food service supervisor at West Nyack School and for the Board of Election voter's registration. While her boys were in college, she managed three Freihofer's Thrift stores. 

 

She loved going to 24 Hour Fitness and socializing with friends 3 days per week with the Silver Sneakers. She also loved working in her garden, harvesting vegetables, strawberries, raspberries and blueberries and making jams and jellies. 

 

Arrangements:

Wake: Friday October 3rd visiting hours with family/friends from 3:00 to 5:00 pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm.

Church Mass: 10:00AM  Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 112 N Main Street, Pearl River, NY 10965.

Interment: Frederick Loescher Memorial Cemetery, 220 Brick Church Road, Spring Valley NY. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donation may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Music Program, 112 N Main Street, Pearl River, NY 10965.
