Mary Lane Obituary

Mary Lane passed away peacefully in her home on June 19, 2025 surrounded by her loving family.

Mary was born in Cork, Ireland on January 9, 1941.  Mary will be remembered for her devout faith in the Catholic Church and Saint Mother Teresa.  For decades, Mary volunteered at the Missionaries of Charity Soup Kitchen in the Bronx New York where she collected and delivered  food to those most in need.   Mary was honored to attend a private mass with the Sisters and be blessed by the hands of Mother Teresa.  In advance of the canonization of Saint Mother Teresa, Mary attended her beatification in Rome.

Mary is survived by her husband Edmund Lane with whom she shared sixty and a half loving years.  Together they worked to build many beautiful homes where family always came first.  For many years, Mary enjoyed heading off down the shore for the weekend and more recently sitting and looking out counting the swans in Clonakilty Bay.  They travelled the world together in their fifties and with that respected and took part in many different cultural traditions.  From the Caribbean to Bermuda to all over Europe, with her favorite being Monaco, to Asia, to Alaska and to Israel where she visited the birthplace of Jesus Christ in Bethlehem and  the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem, home to the site where Jesus was crucified, known as Calvary, and the tomb where Jesus was buried and then resurrected and then on to the Dead Sea where she watched Eamon try not to float.

Mary is also survived by her three children Tim Lane and his wife Erin White Lane, Margaret Lane Boyle and her husband Dan Boyle and Veronica Lane Walsh and her husband Patrick Walsh.  She was a proud and cherished Nana to five loving grandchildren Grace Boyle, Liam Boyle, Ella Boyle, Alexondria Walsh and Eamon Walsh.  Her children and grandchildren were surrounded by her faith, determination, love and support.

Mary is also remembered with love by her brother Finbarr Hegarty and her many sister and brother in laws along with dear friends who were like family to her.

Mary was also preceded in death by her parents Tim and Catherine Hegarty.

Mary's greatest joy was her family.  She adored each and every one of them and was always interested in hearing what they were doing and never stopped encouraging them-where there is a will there is a way she would say.  Mary's presence was that of care and pride in the lives that they built.  Mary had impeccable taste and it showed.  Mary was loved beyond words and will be deeply missed.   Today we say goodbye to Mary and may God love her.
