Mary Agnes Curtin
Born to Timothy and Mary Curtin (Tully) on February 7, 1937, she entered heaven before dinner on August 8, 2025, which—according to Mary—was a good death.
A lifelong Catholic, Mary grew up surrounded by family, faith, and the close-knit spirit of the people she loved. Deeply proud of her Irish heritage, she embraced its traditions, music, and stories, and treasured her connections to cousins near and far.
She began her career as a grammar school teacher in Manhattan, where she inspired generations of students with her sharp mind, gentle humor, and unwavering belief in their potential. In her 30s, Mary made a career change that led her to 30 Rockefeller Plaza, where she worked in a law office managing the file department for an incredible 31 years. Her meticulous organization, deep sense of responsibility, and steady presence made her an indispensable part of the team.
To her family, she was much more than her impressive career—she was the matriarch. Mary was a devoted daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She had a gift for making people feel loved and seen, whether through a quick phone call, a thoughtful card, or a lunch at the diner. She cherished time with her family, who will always remember her wit, her generosity, and her deep faith.
Mary’s life was one of quiet dedication—to her work, and her loved ones. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love that will be felt for generations to come.
She is predeceased by her parents, three brothers Michael, Timothy, and Joseph Curtin, sister Noreen Geelan, and niece Kerry Kelemen Curran. She is survived by her sister Sabina Kelemen and her husband Dennis, numerous nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great-grand nephews.
