Martin Tobin Obituary

Martin Joseph Tobin of Airmont, NY passed away peacefully at his home on December 16, 2021, following a courageous battle with brain cancer.  Martin (“Marty”) was born January 11, 1951, in the Inwood section of Manhattan.  He was the son of William and Diane Tobin, and brother to Bill, Dan and Andree.  He was predeceased by his wife Lynn MacDougall, who he married in 1987.  His sons, Allen and Andrew, comforted him until his final moments.
Marty moved to Pearl River, NY as a young child and spent much of his life there.  After graduating from Pearl River High School in 1969, he remained and became a fixture in the community.  He served as a lector at St. Margaret’s Parish, spent most weekends at the little league or soccer fields, and worked at Reliable Appliances for over thirty years, eventually becoming an owner.  Those that knew Marty remember him for his smile, his calm demeanor and his commitment to helping others.  Most of all, Marty enjoyed spending precious time with his family.  He is survived by his three siblings, his two sons and their wives Margot (Allen) and Priscilla (Andrew), and his six grandchildren, AJ, Dean, Ryan, Carla, Shane and Sean.
Services and interment were private.  Arrangements entrusted to Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY.  In lieu of flowers please feel free to make a donation to the American Cancer Society or any charity that is close to your heart.
