Martha Lazzari

Martha T. Lazzari of Pearl River, NY, passed away on December 29, 2024.  She was 92

Miss Lazzari dedicated many years to teaching within the Clarkstown School District in New City before retiring in 1992. She was an active member of the Clarkstown Teachers Association.

Born on May 19, 1932, in Brooklyn, NY, Martha was the daughter of Robert G. Lazzari and Daisy Bartolomei Lazzari. She received her education in New York City, graduating from Cathedral High School in 1949. Martha earned her bachelor's degree in Education from Dominican College in Blauvelt, NY, in 1961, and later obtained her Master’s Degree from Hunter College in 1968. From 1952 to 1969, she served as a nun with the Dominican Sisters of Blauvelt.

For the past 52 years, Martha resided in Pearl River, NY. Before that, she lived in the Bronx, NY, from 1969 to 1972. She cherished her time spent at her summer home in Keeseville, NY. Locally, she was a devoted member of St. Margaret of Antioch Roman Catholic Church.

Miss Lazzari will be remembered for her willingness to help others, her deep commitment to her Catholic faith, and her role as a spiritual mother to all who crossed her path.

She is survived by her brother Donald Lazzari and his wife Ana, along with her nephew, Edmund R. Lazzari and his wife Peg. She also leaves behind her nieces: Linda Lazzari, Sharon Williams, Patti Lazzari, Lisa Lazzari Huff (Roy), and Donna Lazzari (Ted), as well as her nephew Tony Lazzari (Carly), fifteen grandnieces and grandnephews, and multiple great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.

Miss Lazzari was predeceased by her father, Robert G. Lazzari; her mother, Daisy Lazzari; her brother, Robert N. Lazzari; and her sister, Rita Lazzari.

Calling hours will be held from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM on January 1, 2025, at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc., located at 100 Franklin Ave, Pearl River, NY. The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:00 AM on Thursday, January 2, 2025, at St. Margaret Roman Catholic Church, located at 115 West Central Ave, Pearl River, NY.
