Marie Staniscia Obituary

Marie Staniscia passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. She was 101.

Marie loved her family and friends more than life itself.  Sure, and like most of us, she had many hardships along the way.  Starting with the death of her husband, Victor Staniscia in February 1969 when he was only 50, to losing her mom, Theresa Logomarsini two years after in 1971.  It was a struggle for her, but through the tremendous support of family and friends, she managed to live on.  It took quite a few years until she got out of that downfall, before getting a part time job at a local elementary school in the cafeteria, and getting out with her family and friends.  She was a great dancer, and loved to go out with her friends to local events where dancing was the heart of the evening.  She even joined the local widow/widowers club and continued her dancing. It was there that she met her next partner, Jim Connors, who was a widower around the same time as mom.  He was not only a great dance partner, but became a true friend and companion to her, and we couldn't be happier that she had someone else in her life.  It was a few years of companionship between the two, before they ended up moving down permanently to Pradenton, FL where they lived together for over 18 years, traveling around the globe and our great country with family and friends, and enjoying each other. It was during those 18 years that our family had learned to love and appreciate this man, for they had become a true partnership.  Our kids knew him as "Grandpa Jim" and loved the attention he provided as a surrogate Grandpa.  A few years later Jim passed on.  It was another heart-breaking time in our mom’s life, but once again through the support of family and friends, she was taken care of.  It was at that time mom went back and forth between Lorraine’s home in NY and Peter’s in FL.  We shared her for over 20 years, and once again it was such a wonderful experience for all, as our kids having grandma around for her great cooking and just being there for all of us.  This went all the way through until she was 101, and then she started to slow down and the back and forth had to stop.  We were all so fortunate to have this wonderful woman in our lives for all this time, as she was a true "Angel" to us and all she came in contact with.

She is survived by her daughter, Lorraine, grandchildren, Keith, Scott and Kelli, along with great grandchildren, El, Rivaya, Dean, Lincoln, Logan, Mia and Lucas.  She is also survived by her son, Peter, and his wife, Ricki and grandchildren, Corey and Jordan.
