Marian E. Ferrone, 90, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her family in Pearl River, New York on March 9, 2023.
Marian was born in Manhattan on January 21, 1933 to the late Roger and Elizabeth O’Kane. She attended Blessed Sacrament High School in Manhattan and then onto business school.
Marian met the love of her life, George Ferrone during a trip to the Catskills in 1955. On September 14th, 1957 they were married at the Church of the Ascension in Manhattan and they settled in Washington Heights. The Ferrone’s then moved to Pearl River where they raised their daughter, Mary (Gettler).
Marian was employed by the NY Telephone as a rate analyst before having her daughter. She then worked as a library aide in St. Margaret’s School and an aide for Pearl River Middle school, but her most important job was taking care of her family. She cared for her husband, parents, aunts, uncles and cousins, helped her sister with her children and helped watch her most favorite people-- her grandchildren.
Marian is survived by her daughter and son in law Mary and Al Gettler and her two grandchildren Dan and Kerry Gettler, also many nieces, nephews and cousins in the US and in Northern Ireland. She was predeceased by her loving husband George.
The family thanks her long time aides for their kind and compassionate care. No words could express our gratitude.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10am at St. Aedan R. C. Church, Pearl River. Burial will follow at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Nanuet, NY. Visiting hours are 4-8pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc. Pearl River NY
