Margaret E. Golisch of Nanuet, NY passed away at her home on September 16, 2023. She was 93 years old. The daughter of George F. Danker II and Anna Danker, Margaret was born January 17, 1930 in Manhattan, NY. She grew up in Far Rockaway, Queens, NY and Jersey City, NJ, where she graduated from Henry Snyder High School, Jersey City, NJ, in 1947.
After high school graduation she attended the Felt and Tarrant Comptometer School in Jersey City, NJ and subsequently worked at Birds Eye Frozen Foods from 1947 to 1949. In 1977 she entered the Dental Assistant program at Rockland Community College in Suffern, NY, graduating in 1978. She then worked for several Rockland dental practices until retiring.
Margaret met her husband, Robert G. Golisch, on a blind date in November 1947. He had just completed his service in the U.S. Army as part of the WW II occupation force in Japan. They were married in the Old North Reformed Church in Dumont, NJ on September 2, 1950. Longtime Nanuet residents, they were married for 64 years until his passing in 2015. They had three children: Robert, Janine, and Steven.
She was a longtime member of the Nauraushaun Presbyterian Church in Pearl River, NY, and served as a Deacon, an officer in the Women’s Association and as Church Historian.
She is predeceased by her husband Robert G. Golisch, daughter Janine Pfaff, granddaughter Erika Lombardi, brother George F. Danker III, and sister Matilda Danker.
Margaret is survived by her sons Robert Golisch of Toms River, NJ; Steven Golisch of Nanuet, NY; and son-in-law William Pfaff of Upper Nyack, NY.
She is also survived by her grandchildren: Emily Golisch, Tara Golisch (Hoffman), Jonathan Pfaff, and Todd Golisch, as well as great grandchildren: Max Lombardi (father Andrei Lombardi), Ciel Hoffman and Hugo Hoffman (father Darek Hoffman).
