Margaret Coffey (Peggy) née Finnan of West Nyack, NY passed into eternal life surrounded by her loving family on August 22, 2023. She was 82 years old.
Margaret was born in the Bronx on June 7, 1941 to John and Eileen Finnan. She attended Holy Family School, St Helena’s High School and Queens College where she earned a degree as a registered nurse. On June 8, 1963 she married the love of her life John Coffey. Together they had three children and resided in Bayside, Queens for 13 years. In 1978 they moved to West Nyack, NY. Margaret worked as a nurse for 25 years at Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center in Manhattan.
Margaret spent many happy days in her summer home in Harvey Cedars on Long Beach Island. It was a revolving door where she so generously welcomed her children and grandchildren, nieces and nephews and many wonderful friends throughout the years.
Margaret is survived by her three children and their spouses. John and Diane Coffey of Montvale, NJ, Tim and Debra Coffey of Waxhaw, NC, and Jennifer and James Sweeney of West Nyack, NY along with her seven adoring grandchildren; Kyla, Kersten, Kate, Finn, Ella, Matthew and Megan. She is also survived by her loving brothers, Patrick Finnan and his wife Patricia of Long Boat Key, FL and John Finnan of Vero Beach, FL and her many nieces, nephews and treasured friends. Margaret was pre deceased by her beloved husband John in 2007, her parents John and Eileen, and her dear sister-in-law Kathy.
Calling hours will be at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home on Monday August 28, 2023 from 4-7 pm. There will be a mass of Christian Burial at St Francis of Assisi in West Nyack on Tuesday August 29th at 10am. Interment will be at Ascension Cemetery in Airmont, NY.
