Margaret Carabine

Margaret “Tootsie” Carabine, 80, of Chestnut Ridge, NY left this life on May 15, 2018 due to a tragic car accident. She was born Margaret Mary O’Connor on January 18, 1938 in the Bronx where she lived until she moved to Rockland County in 1973.

Tootsie was born 5th of 13 children. Until her death she held a strong bond with her family and friends. She loved to play Bingo so much that is how she was convinced to arrive at her surprise 80th birthday party that over 80 people attended on January 13, 2018.

She is survived by her husband William Carabine of 52 years, 3 daughters, Kathleen Carabine, Maureen Carabine and Eileen Tortoriello (Kevin) and 3 grandchildren, Brooke, Bella and Thomas Tortoriello. She is also survived by siblings, Elizabeth Woods, Daniel (Madelyn) O’Connor, Thomas (Theresa) O’Connor, William O’Connor, Charles O’Connor, Violet O’Connor, Eileen (Bob) Cullen, Nancy O’Connor & Steve Pugliese. She is predeceased by her parents Elizabeth (Butler) and Daniel O’Connor and siblings Edmond O’Connor, Francis O’Connor, Kathleen O’Brien and Richard O’Connor. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews along with her dear childhood friend Patricia Acampora and long-time friend Catherine Greenspan.

She will be waked on Sunday, May 20, 2018 between 1-3pm and 5-7pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Avenue, Pearl River, NY 10965. A celebration of life will be held at St. Aedan’s Catholic Church, 23 Reld Drive, Pearl River, NY 10965 on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:00am.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
