Margaret M Boyce

Margaret Mary Boyce (nee Bourke) of Hazlet, New Jersey, passed away on Monday, June 13 in Hackensack, New Jersey.  She was originally from Taylor Ave in Bronx, New York. The area fondly referred to as “Archer Street”. She was 76 years old.

Mrs. Boyce worked as a secretary for various companies. Her vivacious personality allowed her to easily form solid work relationships.  She was an asset to each company she worked for.

Margaret was born in the Bronx, New York, on May 19, 1946. She was the first of five children born to John Bourke and Grace Bourke (nee Byrne).

She was educated at Saint Anthony’s grammar school in Bronx, New York and graduated from Cathedral High School in Manhattan, New York.

                On May 17, 1969, Margaret married Michael Boyce of Jersey City, New Jersey. She lived in Hazlet, New Jersey for the past 12 years. Before that, she lived in North Bergen, New Jersey, where she raised her children.

Mrs. Boyce will be remembered for being outgoing and full of life.  Each of her children held a special place in her heart. Her grandchildren were her world! She adored each of her siblings and their spouses. Even as family dispersed too far away areas, Margaret always kept them in her mind and heart.  She always remembered birthdays and anniversaries. She never forgot a special date!

Margaret was predeceased in death by her husband, Michael Boyce, her brother, John Bourke, her nephew John Bourke, and her brother-in-law Frank Jones, as well as by her father John Bourke, and her mother Grace Bourke (Byrne).

Margaret is survived by her children, Michael Boyce and his wife Lisa, Anne Amaro and her husband Pete, Brian Boyce and his wife Lisa, and Kevin Boyce. Her siblings, Peter Bourke and his wife Mary, Kevin Bourke and his wife Joan, Maryanne Jones (Bourke) and sister-in-law Isabella Bourke (nee DeFiore). Margaret had nine grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by many nephews and nieces.  Her friends were numerous.

A wake will be held at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, New York on Thursday June 16 between the hours of 4pm and 7pm.  The funeral mass will take place at St. Aedan’s Catholic Church, in Pearl River, New York on Friday June 17 at 10am.  Following the mass Margaret’s wishes to be cremated will be honored.
