Loretta Baxter passed away from this world into heaven on April 2, 2024.
Loretta was born August 3, 1923 to Patrick and Emily (Garvey) McDermott in Manhattan, NY. She attended Columbia University and worked for that institution during, and after the war. Loretta was known as a fiercely independent and strong woman with a great sense of humor who loved to laugh. She was a successful homemaker and worked for many years as a circulation manager for the Journal News.
She married Harry Baxter on February 14, 1947 and together, they spent forty-six wonderful years of love and laughter before his passing.
Loretta is survived by her sons, Brian of Libby, MT and Terrence of Pearl River, NY and many other loving relatives and friends.
While we will mourn her departure from this world she’s welcomed into the next by her son, Stephen (2006) and husband, Harry(1993).
