Lawrence McKearney Obituary

Lawrence McKearney , beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother passed away on December 28, 2025 at the age of 93.
Larry was born on September 17, 1932 to Lawrence and Mary McKearney in Queens, NY.
He proudly graduated from Regis High School and Fordham University where he made lifelong friends.
Immediately after graduation Larry married the love of his life Marge to start their 71 years of marriage.
The first chapter of their married life was spent with him serving in the army as an officer in Texas and Germany.
Upon returning to the states he began his career as a pension actuary with Kwasha, Lipton in Englewood Cliffs, NJ.
They moved from Queens in 1960 to Pearl River where he would raise his 11 children and live for the rest of his life.
His involvement in this community was incredible. Larry was a Boy Scout leader, Soccer coach, Pearl River Little League umpire and Coordinator of the umpires. As an EMT with the Pearl River Ambulance he volunteered countless hours. He also taught Religion at St Aedans PREP program, taught ESL at One to One Learning and tutored students for their GED.
Larry was a man of great faith.
He was a Eucharistic minister at Nyack Hospital and St Aedans and a lector and member of the choir at St Aedans Church.

After retiring as a partner from Kwasha Lipton Larry returned to school and received his Masters in Education from Long Island University. Teaching Mathematics at Don Bosco Prep and later at Mother Cabrini High School in Washington Heights was the career he was passionate about. He loved the students and their energy and the challenge of helping them understand and learn math.

All this while being an amazing husband and dad. He was hands on all the time. Whether he was singing his kids songs while giving them baths, polishing so many shoes on a Saturday night so they’d look shiny for church on Sunday or folding baskets and baskets of laundry while trying to watch a football or baseball game on TV he was helping. He and Marge attended numerous graduations, games,dance recitals and school plays for their children and grandchildren. They made it a point to be there for everyone.

He is survived by his wife Marge, his 11 children MaryAlice(Dave), Lorraine(Ken), Thom(Susan),
Dennis(Diane), Ellen(Vinny) Monica(Ron), Kevin(Karen), Gerard, Vincent(Heather), Brian(Melissa) and Edward(Michele),
25 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren,his sister Rita Reers (Bob) and many nieces and nephews.
He is predecessed by his parents and his brother Edward.

Larry had a big heart and a wonderful life.
