Kelly L Draper of both Pomona and Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully on October 22, 2025 at Memorial Sloan Kettering Hospital in New York, NY, with her loving husband John at her side, holding her hand. She courageously battled her illness until the very end, while still maintaining her sense of humor. She was 53 years old.
Kelly was an Associate Director at KPMG in Montvale, NJ and recently celebrated her 30th anniversary with the company. She was an extremely dedicated and diligent worker as evidenced by her continual climb through the ranks. Her vibrant, fun personality ensured many lifelong friends from KPMG.
Kelly was born close to midnight on July 24, 1972 in Nyack, NY to Patricia and Clifford Shannon. Her dad would often joke that he wished she were born a bit later so that they could share a birthday. She had a very special and immensely loving relationship with both of her parents. She was educated at Pearl River High School, from where she had many friends, and Mercy College in Dobbs Ferry, NY.
Kelly met John in 1988 when they were teenagers, and were connected by John's (now deceased) sister Nicole. They were married on June 22, 1996 at St Aedan's Church in Pearl River. They shared a tremendous love and support for each over over the thirty seven plus years that they spent together from beginning to end. They have two amazing kids together, Bryan and Brendan, which were her pride and joy.
Kelly was a huge football, hockey, and golf fan. She loved her NY Giants, NY Islanders, and any golf tournament. Sports were a foundation and passion of her life as it consumed every weekend. She was either watching on TV, planning a sports trip, going to games, being a crazy hockey mom for Bryan, or an all-encouraging football mom to Brendan. She loved to plan elaborate family trips and made sure that every detail was taken care of. At holiday gatherings she would always have a bunch of games up her sleeve for everyone to take part in. She was a true planner and organizer as well as an amazing cook. Family was above all else and essential to her existence. She shared so much laughter and comfort around all of her family. Of all the activities she took part in, she especially enjoyed her summertime Sunday Fundays at the pool at Rockland Country Club, a personal oasis. Until her recent illness, Kelly was a dedicated parishioner of St Aedan's Church.
Kelly had so many different groups of friends from all walks, a true testament to the type of person she was, to attract so many people into her life. Her radiant smile, her big blue eyes, her distinctive laugh, and entire demeanor would just exude that fun was on the way. Her energy and vibe were contagious and she had an inner glow that would project outward. She was beyond a giver, always putting everyone above herself. She will be missed beyond belief.
Kelly is survived by her loving and dedicated husband John of 29 years, her son Bryan and longtime girlfriend Brooke, her son Brendan, her father Cliff, her Aunt Carol and Uncle Bill, her Aunt Holly and Uncle Steve, her cousins Todd, Michael, Donna, and Remi, her Sister in Law and Brother in Law Danielle and Joe, her Mother in Law Rosemarie, her Father in Law John (Diane), Diane's daughters Barbara and Jodie, her nephews Christopher and Colin, and her niece Caitlyn. She is predeceased by her mother Patricia, her Uncles Patrick and Russ, her Aunt Linda, Stepfather in Law Rob, and her Sister in Law Nicole.
Calling hours are 3pm-7pm at Wyman Fisher Funeral Home, 100 Franklin Ave, Pearl River, NY on Wednesday October 29, 2025. The Funeral Mass will be held at St Aedan's Church, 23 Reld Dr, Pearl River, NY, at 10am on Thursday October 30, 2025. Burial will be private.
