Kathleen Larkin Obituary

Kathleen Larkin of Manasquan, NJ, formerly of Sparkill, NY, died on September 26, 2021 at home surrounded by her loving family.

Kathy was born on June 13, 1941 in the Bronx to Tom and Mary Griffin Shine. She graduated from St. Helena’s High School in 1959 and later earned a degree from Nyack College in Human Resources Management.

On June 17, 1961 she married Jimmy Larkin at Holy Family in the Bronx. Jimmy and Kathy raised their children in Rockland County and moved to Manasquan full-time in 2002.

She worked as a Benefits Coordinator for National Medical Care in Rockleigh, NJ for ten years.

Kathy was predeceased by her infant son James, her husband James, her sister Maura Morales and brother-in-law Johnny Morales.

She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Mary and Jim Thornton, Julia and Bryan DiGovanni, Kathleen and Rich Freedberg and her son John. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren Sean and Kelsey Thornton and Kelsey and her fiance Matthew Oberholtzer, Katelyn and Jimmy Freedberg, and Ava and Paul DiGovanni. In addition, she is survived by her beloved brothers Tom and his wife Pat and Joe and his wife Eileen. Kathy also had a special place in her heart for her nieces and nephews and their families. Her lifelong friend Mary Farmer also survives her.

Kathy was a wonderful mother, aunt, sister, cousin and friend. Her biggest joy was spending time with her family. She and Jimmy loved to travel, especially to Ireland and she was very proud of her Irish heritage. Kathy also went on numerous cruises with her sister Maura and best friend Mary.

She was an ardent Yankees fan for all her life and took losses personally.

Visiting will be held on Wednesday September 29, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home Inc in Pearl River. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:30 AM Thursday September 30, 2021 at Parish of St. John Henry Newman (Our Lady of the Sacred Heart R.C. Church) 120 Kings Hwy. Tappan, NY 10983.
