Juan Carlos Fernandez

Detective Juan Fernandez, a devoted husband, father, Marine, and longtime NYPD Detective, passed away on November 11, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. A proud resident of Pearl River, New York, Juan lived a life marked by dedication, purpose, and heart.

He was the loving husband of Lilly and the proud father of Sydney, Samantha, and Jessica, always serving as their protector, guide, and steady source of strength. His humor, warmth, and loyalty made him the foundation of his home and the heart of his family.

Juan began his path of service in the United States Marine Corps, earning distinguished honors including the Naval Achievement Medal and the Meritorious Unit Citation. He went on to serve more than 20 years with the New York City Police Department, rising to the rank of Detective 2nd Grade and working in several respected units, including the 41st Precinct, Bronx Narcotics, and the Intelligence Bureau’s Threat Assessment Protection Unit.

During this time, he also worked closely with Police Commissioner William Bratton, assisting in providing protective security. Juan was proudly a 9/11 first responder, serving during one of the most defining moments in our nation’s history.

He will be remembered for his devotion to his family, his commitment to service, and the integrity he carried throughout his life. Juan leaves behind a legacy of love, honor, and purpose that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife Lily, his daughters Sydney, Samantha, and Jessica, extended family, lifelong friends, fellow Marines, and his brothers and sisters in the NYPD.
