Josephine (Gallagher) Geenty

Josephine Geenty (nee Gallagher) of Pearl River, NY passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on October 20, 2023. Josephine was born in Drumahaire, County Leitrim, Ireland and emigrated as a young woman to New York on the Mauretania ship in the 1950s. She met her love, Bill Geenty at a Leitrim dance in NYC and they married in 1963. They raised their five children in St. Brendan’s parish, Bronx, NY and later moved to Pearl River where they became parishioners at St. Margaret of Antioch parish. Josephine is predeceased by her beloved son Billy, husband Bill, brothers Hugh James, Patrick, Peter, Joseph, John, Michael, and sisters Agnes, Kay, Theresa, and Marjorie. Josephine is survived by her daughter Mary and her husband Brian Wynne, and their children Brigid, Liam, Lauren, Brian, Patrick and James; her daughter Theresa and her husband Stephen Gillooly and their children Alanah (D’Arcy), Michael and Christopher; her daughter Siobhan and her husband Kevin Lamasney and their children Sean, Gavin, and Grace; and her daughter Erin and her husband James Donnelly and their children William, Colin, Declan and Aibreann.

Visiting will be held on Tuesday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm at Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 am at St. Margaret of Antioch R.C. Church, Pearl River, NY. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, NY.
