Joseph S Facinelli

Joseph Simon Facinelli a loving son, brother, father, grandfather, father-in -law, uncle, cousin and long-time resident of Montrose, Pennsylvania passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at the Department of Veteran’s Affairs Medical Center in the Bronx, New York. He was 77 years old. 

Mr. Facinelli was self-employed as the owner of DJ Jewelry in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn from 1976-1987.   In Montrose, Pennsylvania he was a long-time employee of the Holy Name of Mary Roman Catholic Church until retirement in 2011.

Joseph was born on July 27, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York to Mary and Simon Facinelli. He was educated in New York City Public Schools and attended Queens College majoring in aeronautical engineering.

Mr. Facinelli served our country in the United States Air Force from November 1965 - November 1969 as a flight mechanic on B-52 Bombers and KC-135 Stratotankers. He was proud to attain the rank of sergeant.

On September 2, 1973 he married Diane and resided in Brooklyn, New York. They went on to have a son, Jeffrey, his pride and joy.  In 1984, they divorced.  Mr. Facinelli continued on to marry Laura on August 26, 1989 and resided in Montrose, PA.  They later divorced in 1995.

Joseph will be remembered for being a kind, helpful and quick-witted person. He was a person who was a friend to so many.  He was also a skilled craftsman who enjoyed woodworking. His most prized work included constructing his own log cabin home on 28 acres in Pennsylvania.

He is survived by his devoted son Jeff, his loving daughter-in -law Lisa, and his four talented grandsons Declan, Raymond, Brogan and Liam (of whom he was most proud). Mr. Facinelli is also survived by his loving sister Diana, his nephews Richard (Fiona) and daughter, Thomas (Caitlyn) and daughter, his niece Lisa (John) in addition to numerous cousins.

Joseph is pre-deceased by his mom Mary, his dad Simon, his sisters Bruna and Joann and two of his life-long best friends Marty & Bobby.

Calling hours are 2pm-5pm and 7pm-9pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at the Wyman-Fisher Funeral Home in Pearl River, NY.  A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00am on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River, NJ. Mr. Facinelli will be buried at the Holy Name of Mary Catholic Cemetery in Montrose, Pennsylvania at 11:30am on Friday, August 11, 2023 (the eighth anniversary of Mr. Facinelli’s mom Mary’s passing).
